63.23/24 San Diego, a brief stopover: A few local walks amongst the Del Cerro flowers to Lake Murray. / South Fortuna in Mission Trails Regional Park.

Jen and I have walked quite a few miles in Allied Gardens including frequent trips through Del Cerro on toward Lake Murray. It really is a splendid region. Should I have but one choice in making a permanent residence in San Diego, I would select Del Cerro. It has much going for it, including proximity to a wonderfully-shaped lake, a feeling of safety, well-groomed gardens filled with varying trees and colorful flowers. Much of the neighborhood is built into the mountain which allows for delightful views and opportunities to strengthen the leg muscles. The exciting Mission Trails Regional Park is also on the doorstep. Yep, I like!

Color in a dry region.
It's not Palm Beach but is nicer.
Lake Murray, a distinctive body of water.
Your typical wall-flowers.
A more mobile wall-flower.
Jen arrives at our brunch spot, above the shapely, Lake Murray.

Another reason for our favor of the location is the wonderful Mission Trails Regional Park. It's probably an understated hiker's easy-to-reach-varied park.

San Diego River is still flowing although looks still.

Heading up toward South Fortuna Mountain.

Still on track.
Returning from the summit, steep but on the short side.
Crossing the San Diego River. Water level is much lower than last crossing. Last year, we waded across the river as our clothes needed a good cleaning. This year we are less fastidious about garments.
Cheers,

Jenni and Jeffrey
