64.21 Portugal: Geres: PR7 Opposite Sao Bento Church, clockwise color-sated trail.

Add a little color into the mix and the world looks a lot better. A big battle in Geres is underway as the evergreens maintain dominance over the autumn colors. It’s one of the conflicts enjoyable to observe and whichever force wins, greens or mixed-colors, we’re thrilled.

As in all places, one has to seek to find, sweat to succeed, as well as exercise patience to allow nature to fulfill its multi-faceted roles. It’s no guarantee that one will achieve one’s goals but often, nature will surprise one, belittling once’s original hopes and desires by replacing and surpassing them with the unexpected. Literally, it’s a whole different (new) world waiting to be discovered and rediscovered, each day.

Stunned by the sight.
We look up toward our commencement point after crossing the lake.
Frequent display of this scene but it improves each time we see it. (The swing sits on the top of the mountain behind.)
The swing on the opposite mountain top taken from this side's mountain high with a telephoto.
The swing as seen from the other mountain...above photograph.
Jen moving up.
Recently crossed the water.
Moving higher and the views of Sao Bento keep improving.
Approaching a different part of the trail and terrain.
Sandwiched between the boulders where we stopped for brunch. We were truly positioned between a rock and (on) a hard place.
Another colorful character trying to shield us from the water.

Cheers,

Jenni and Jeffrey

Jen finds herself in unusual town situations (on outskirts).
Do you speak English?" I asked this fellow hiker, one of the few we came across over 6 weeks in Geres.
His reply: "Sure do."
Not surprising. Allan is an Englishman...speaks the King's English...nice guy, too.
Returning to the town having just reached the outskirts.
