49.19: Berryessa Lake: We thought the first visit was memorable but the second was...

We wanted to find a route to the ridge away from the formal trail we undertook 2 days earlier. Fortunately, we were successful and the day proved to be outstanding. Here's a taste: 


We found our own way, north of the lake, to a position we identified two days prior (see blog below). It did not disappoint.
Note the fire damage of the trees and the recovery at ground-level. Remarkable and still attractive.
The steep hike became easy as the mind focused on the pleasure of the surroundings rather than the stiff climbs.
On the previous visit, this section was the main view with many facets. From this angle, it still is gorgeous but plays a lesser role. It provides some perspective for the set of photographs below.
