49.21 California: Skyline Wilderness Park, Napa: Skyline Ridge to Lake Marie et al.

We undertook the hike of over 7 miles with some good climbs the day after our second stunning experience at Berryessa. The lake lies between Napa and Vacaville, the latter being our entry point for the ridge hikes at the lake. Poor Napa! It did not stand a chance. After the figurative and literal highs above the lake, the Wilderness Park proved to be an anti-climax. Sorry Napa. Nevertheless, Marie Lake is attractive particularly because of the coloring surrounding it. 

Our good friend (much more than that), Dr. Jerry Bongard, lived in the region for a while and so we thought of him which made the hike enjoyable.

Jen takes a side trail which circles the lake, making for good views from above. 

  We're in the market for a house. We came across this beauty with wonderful views. Admittedly, it's a fixer-upper but Jen is very handy with a hammer and chisel. I should know. The pool in the backyard clinched the deal.
Finally, rather than walk down the last stretch, she made an offer on this little vintage gem. No accounting for taste. Like our new house, it might need a little paint patch-up.
