The scenes below are from the forests situate on the high mountains of Reunion, a French Island in the Indian Ocean. For us, the sheer beauty witnessed and the struggles up and down the mountains, in our first 3 days some 16,000 feet of altitude gain/loss, were a high in itself. The photographs remain mostly without captions, the narrative ends here as we continue to absorb the scenes in which we immersed ourselves over a 3-day period. We hope you see it, at least the way we did, as we made our way up, over and down the mountain in light rain. The photographs are a smattering from only one of 4 hikes.
The town of Cilaos in one of 3 cirques of the country. We had to commence by going up and over the cloud covered mountain at rear, in rain.
Gets a little ugly when man is involved. (Arriving in Marla and seeking a place for the night.)
For many, a spiritual guide; for us it proved to be an attractive physical beacon as we returned on one of the hikes.
Cheers,
Jenni and Jeffrey
