Friday:
Our editor made fun of us because we wondered about an ocean in Montana last week. Before Shabbos, we think we discovered the ocean or if not, at least a sea. We’ll tell you about that later. We are now concerned about a possible drought in Montana. If you remember, we thought of becoming weather forecasters because we had predicted rain for seven days out of the previous week. Yes, it was a good effort.
However, we are worried because it is now two days since the last rain and the storms have disappeared. The other problem is that our editor has been deeply concerned about lightning. With the dark clouds apparently over for the season, we worry about her next neurosis. Life can be very challenging on the road. Sometimes, we believe a little empathy for our predicament is not unwarranted.

Shabbos was a wonderful experience in Lakeside. We had a room alongside the water and spent time in Torah study, davening and enjoyed walking along the lakefront. The more we see, the more we grasp the unlimited imagination of the Creator. By the way, we find the book of Devarim fascinating and loaded with guidance for life. We hope we are learning something
Before leaving Missoula on Friday morning, we climbed Mount Jumbo. This was similar to the previous day’s hike but it had its own challenges. It also views the city below but it is a mountain with a difference. From a distance, it looks manicured. We find that unique and attractive. The hike was less than 2,000 feet elevation gain but at least 6 miles long. Following our descent, we headed for Lakeside via Polson. The ‘sea’ we were referring to earlier is the incredible Lake Flathead, named for a tribe of Indians.
We question the tribe’s translated name for we would not be comfortable being referred to by such a description. However, when we consider it further, in our day, worse names were thrown our way.The Lake is twenty-eight miles long, fifteen miles wide at its broadest and 136 feet deep. Along the eastern side are two mountain ranges, Mission and Swan.
Sunday morning we awoke to undertake what we think could be an outstanding couple of days. More next time…
