the Laikens to explore the area. Wise words indeed, thank you. Although we have hiked many times in
the region, the words of Galen Rowell have never left us. The late international mountain climber and
photographer said, "In retrospect, I never had to leave the Sierras to see the world's beauty.
It's all here."
We will deal with the hike in a full blog soon. However, this is a taste of an experience that is
beyond words. What does it mean when one sees and feels so much beauty that one develops a feeling
of frustration, at times. The sentiment appears to be ungrateful but clearly it's not our true
feelings. Perhaps it is an overload of the brain which is unable to cope with so much wonder in
a confined region. Then again, climbing 3,000 feet and walking over ten miles is hardly a limited area.
Enough with your problems...(excuse us); take a look at some of the beauty of the Eastern Sierra.
A greeting as we crest Table Mountain.
Air pressure causes the 'trudge' as we close in on 12,000 feet without acclimating.
Try separate the reflection from the real image.
Feeling the lack of air but easily compensated by being in one of the most beautiful places visited.
A captivating view from the table—Table Mountain, Sierras, a feeling of being on top of the world.
A land of lakes and reflections.
Autumn approaching (arrived) although day temperatures still high.
The serenity, vast open 'nothingness' and surrounding beauty lift the soul—it would help if they could
lift the feet, too. Table Mountain top, above the Tyee Lakes.
Perhaps some artistry as we gaze at one of the Tyee lakes
Mesmerized by this range tucked away and out of sight, unless one takes the journey.
Let's throw in a blue lake as we leave.
Cheers,
Jenni and Jeffrey
