48.43: California: Palm Desert: 'Hopalong Cassidy' Trail combined with 'Bump and Grind'.

The trail goes in many directions and to different places, all good, and finishes up at the Palm Desert Cross. It includes views of golf courses which appear surreal at high elevation with lush green fairways and similar putting greens, in stark contrast to the harsh desert terrain.

A little earlier, a few minutes before making the turn.
We'd risen approximately 1,700 feet to look into the golf course. Ever so grateful to Jenni for carrying my golf bag the whole way. What a tiger!

We diverted to 'Bump and Grind' for a bit of a sweat.

70.19 Nepal: Eclectic events from various hikes.

We have so many hikes which have not even touched the surface of the blog. In the meantime, we have published a few pictures which provide, we think, alternate perspectives of Nepal and its hiking/life opportunities. Should you not like what you read/view, please have it out with Jen. There comes a time when a person should be frank or at least, e(a)rnest, take your pick. Nevertheless, one should always question 'For whom the bell tolls'? Machapuchare, at nearly 23,000 feet, is elusive. Finally, we may have caught it 'in the frame'. Hopefully, this will lock the 'hill' into a more stable existence. Here is my fair lady...had to get her to the church...correction...temple on time. Turns out we were the only people at temple...so much for the religiosity of the locals. We 'benched' on our own. You color our world, you lift our spirits. Look, son, but try not to stare. 17.15 Mont-aux-Sources, one of South Africa’s highest, a stunning region.

Jenni rests at the top of the Tugela Falls as the second highest waterfall in the world drips over. The peak of Mont-aux-Sources sits at 10,768 feet above sea level. A genuinely happy girl after a wonderful triumph, particularly, the inner struggle when facing the chain ladders. Peering over the edge of Tugela Falls but clouds blocking visuals, distorting the views. See note to right to equalize the size of photos. It turned out to be the final outing of Hike-about 17, also, the only repeat hike of this trip. We (bumped) three or four hikes to insert this one. When we climbed it some 15 months ago, we knew we’d be back. It is a glorious hike; it is stunning. We would willingly make a double trans-Atlantic flight for the experience. There are two massive waterfalls at the top, Eland and the Tugela and more exciting aspects, too.
