LAZAROW WORLD HIKE-ABOUT

Eastern Cape, South Africa: Storms River region.

'LAZAROW WORLD HIKE-ABOUT: WHAT IN THE WORLD IS HIKE-ABOUT?'

Hike-about is an adventure that commenced June 2010. After storing our household movables, ridding ourselves of a house but retaining our 'home' together, we set off with the purpose of hiking in different parts of the world, not forgetting the home country, the USA.

Our primary focus is hiking to mountain peaks but any challenging hike will do just fine. Extended stays enable us to enjoy and experience living in various places amongst differing cultures. Hike-about has evolved into a way of life. It's also a process of discovery, both the world and ourselves.

We work and live 'on the road' but return to the city in which our grandchildren reside, every couple of months. This provides us the wonderful opportunity to be with them as well as a child or two, even three and of course, friends.

By the end of 2023, the blog contained over 1,560 hikes (less than that actually undertaken), each a set of pictures with stories and anecdotes from the trails. An index to the right allows the viewer to identify earlier experiences.

Finally, we are often asked about the journey's end.
O
ur reply, as accurate as we can state, is: "When we are either forced to cease through health issues or the enjoyment level no longer reaches our aspirations, we will hang up the boots."

"A Life Experience As No Other: Dare to Seize the Day Together", published by Fulton Books, depicts our life on the road and mountains until the beginning of 2017. It has developed 'exponentially' since then.

61.11 Arizona: Page: Lake Powell, wandering over the rocks (not under yet) ...for a change.

I should never have made the comment to Jen about her ugly hat. She then misdirected me into the pit, no different from Joseph who also had a family squabble. What's changed? "Will you help me out, please? I'm so sorry about the comment regarding the piece of fluff on your head."
So tell me, how much do you love these rocks of Page? (By the way, this is not a rock, but rather, a county covered in rock.)
"...and what about Lake Powell and the Colorado River? Good! Much better attitude."
"By the way, I love this shot of you, Gorgeous,...it's a wow. Okay, you can relax now, release your breath."
"I would like to wake every morning with this view...I mean, a second view after looking into your eyes..."
I like this one, two, oops, too. The subtle coloring of Castle Rock reflecting off the water gets into me.
When we were kids, (maybe nothing's changed), we used to play a game called "King of the Castle, dirty rascal". I never thought I'd still be playing this now that we are in our early forties. The funny thing is we enjoy it a lot more that we have matured so wonderfully.
The bridge across Glen Canyon Dam/Colorado River/Lake Powell. In the background-Tower Butte and Navajo Mountain prominent.
Glen Canyon Dam viewed from a lower level. One can drive one's partner up the wall or on a better day, along the wall as above.
Following snowfall, we try a hike on the other side of the bridge. Unfortunately, the snow managed to get across the river and lake despite closure of the bridge.
Without water in view...still very attractive although water flows in the canyon just below.
The sun hits the spot early one morning. The power of nature to produce a myriad of differing scenes.
Can't get away from these scenes.
Then again, why would we?
Let's focus on Jenni-she deserves recognition after some recent courageous handling of tough situations.
Nice view from here and a great one from there.
Cheers,

Jenni and Jeffrey

While all roads lead to Rome, we are excited that this one passes through Page, enroute.
