LAZAROW WORLD HIKE-ABOUT

'LAZAROW WORLD HIKE-ABOUT: WHAT IN THE WORLD IS HIKE-ABOUT?'
Hike-about is an adventure that commenced June 2010. After storing our household movables, ridding ourselves of a house but retaining our 'home' together, we set off with the purpose of hiking in different parts of the world, not forgetting the home country, the USA.
Our primary focus is hiking to mountain peaks but any challenging hike will do just fine. Extended stays enable us to enjoy and experience living in various places amongst differing cultures. Hike-about has evolved into a way of life. It's also a process of discovery, both the world and ourselves.
We work and live 'on the road' but return to the city in which our grandchildren reside, every couple of months. This provides us the wonderful opportunity to be with them as well as a child or two, even three and of course, friends.
By the end of 2023, the blog contained over 1,560 hikes (less than that actually undertaken), each a set of pictures with stories and anecdotes from the trails. An index to the right allows the viewer to identify earlier experiences.
Finally, we are often asked about the journey's end. Our reply, as accurate as we can state, is: "When we are either forced to cease through health issues or the enjoyment level no longer reaches our aspirations, we will hang up the boots."
"A Life Experience As No Other: Dare to Seize the Day Together", published by Fulton Books, depicts our life on the road and mountains until the beginning of 2017. It has developed 'exponentially' since then.

A Video plus 27.25 The peaks along the French border below Pic Tristaina: A day off! ... 27.26 Lake Estanyó and reaching the peak above and behind it.
This duo of hikes concludes our visits to Spain, France and Andorra. It was a remarkable six weeks of superb hiking and climbing opportunities with of course, exposure to different cultures and people who continue to provide interesting, and at times, fascinating perspectives. Whenever we despair because of the tragedies occurring about us, we transport our minds to these periods and places and recapture the beauty of the land as well as the many kind and good souls with whom we share the planet. Life is always full of challenges and some rather unpleasant. Off trail we had some car issues that were unsetting but in the scheme of things, or with proper perspective, they amounted to 'pinpricks'.
Once again, to those who follow our blog, thank you. To others who write to us with words of wisdom and kindness, thank you indeed and to those who admonish us occasionally, we thank you too because we need the guidance very much.
Finally, we added in a video which shows a sprinkling of randomly chosen photographs of the period.
No shortage of lakes and ski slopes in Andorra. This hike was on a rest day...says something about the editor's cruel streak.
Perhaps, it's not surprising to catch Jenni climbing, these days. The lake below is about half-way up and can be
seen clearly in the photograph above.
Looking toward Pic Tristaina (and equally intimidated), the incredible and sobering hike of the previous day. The ascent takes place from the front rather than the spine, hence, intimidating.
We term this the 'tension' that exists between right and left wing path builders.
This is what we term a male bird's-eye view.
This is the female bird's eye view from a peak. Obviously, always more impressive than the male.
A great vantage point to view one of many of Andorra's ski slopes.
Gone walk-about.
A couple of shots at Lake Estanyó in Parc Natural de la Vall de Sorteny.
The bag lady reaches a peak behind and above Lake Estanyó after some 2,600 feet of ascension.
A woman (flower child) of the 60's...era not age...hmm, an error...well, both. The last photo from a trail in Andorra, this trip.
We'll see you in Greece!
Cheers,
Jenni and Jeffrey
