31.19 Krnsko Jezero, peace and tranquility mixed with sweat; plus some odds and sods.

This is a two-part hike, either to the lake which is a climb of about 2,500 feet or to the wonderful peak of Mount Krn, beyond and above the lake. We were so taken in with both the beauty and tranquility of the region that we made inquiries about staying in the dom (hut) on a future trip. There is so much to see and undertake in the rest of the world that a separate journey to Slovenia may not be on the cards. However, a visit to Croatia, Hungary, Italy or Austria would bring us in 'walking' distance of the country. We hope so. On our return, we came across three young hikers on their way up. We greeted them and the one fellow answered what sounded like "Howzit". This is a typical South African greeting which caused us to halt and engage in conversation. It turns out that he is living in Hawaii and that, as he mentioned, is how they say 'hello' on the islands. In all our trips, we never heard that before...you learn something new each day.
