35.07 An introduction to El Chaltan, Los Glaciares National Park, as we pause from Bariloche.
We wake every day , we consider the issue, we shake our collective heads and remind ourselves it is summer in the southern hemisphere. Then we remember Argentina, the southern part, where we are, is in that same hemisphere. All of the pondering is for nought—it’s irrelevant. It’s been a long time since we’ve felt this cold. The temperatures have reached below freezing at times, the water is icy, the wind is never far from us and of course, it’s summer—toward the end of the season though. We had no hot water the other night. We can handle cold-water but icy liquid on the body, we admit, is beyond our level of courage. Every now and again we get something right, we think. As an introduction to this beautiful region (before the blog returns to Bariloche), take a look at the dawning of a new day, another miracle.
