65.11 Western USA: Dunes (Kelso) and Water (Lake Mead and its source) contrasts.
We have come to like everything about the Colorado River, often following the flow as well as feasting in the delights of all it touches. It begins in Colorado and ends in Mexico. However, the effect on the dams and lakes it fills, the deserts it brings to life, especially those places resting close to its banks, have literally been highlights of our lives. Obviously, this is just a hint at its power to beautify. However, we will add that the canyons it has created, including the grandest of them all, allows one to feel most comfortable walking humbly in its wake. Below are a mere handful of the thousands of positions in which we have walked, climbed, hiked or just sat and absorbed one of the many miracles of nature.
