Jen 'takes on the world'...well, in a manner of speaking. We stayed in the town of Mexican Hat for 4 days, population of approximately 17 people. We cannot be sure as they do not stage a daily roll-call. However, we were well-positioned close to the center of town across the way from the gas station, 7-11 and attached post office. We mentioned in another blog that the owner of the motel was a terrific guy, knowledgeable and smart. Being in the middle of nowhere, although close to Gooseneck Park, he told us of his preparations should the revolution occur without much notice. He has a storeroom of non-perishable foodstuffs, medical supplies and judging by his size, some chocolate, too which he may be withdrawing ahead of time. When living in a town in the wilderness, a shopping day entails a long drive to so-called 'civilization'. Truth be told, it's far more civil out there than in the cities but then that's a biased opinion.  Fortunately for us, over the year...

Delicate Arch in its glory, before brunch. Filling the arch after a hearty meal. The latter position is an approach from another direction unbeknown to most and a little tricky. It's most peaceful and provides delightful views of the formations. A view from below which is also not frequented by most. Massive rocks, small window. The drop below prevents most from heading to this side of the arch. Some think this position is 'for the birds'. A nice approach from below. Two other formations elsewhere on our walk in the park.
