50.49/.50/.51 Utah: Jupiter from Guardsman Pass, Bonneville on the circuit and Desolate Trails in Mill Creek Canyon.
Extraordinary wooded area below Jupiter. The Desolate Trail was the first hike of our 61-day stay in the greater Salt Lake City region. At the time, our initial booking was for 9 days. The hike itself was reasonable but not something to tempt us to extend our visit. Thereafter, life became more exciting as each day passed. Had snow not arrived when it did, we could easily have extended further as there were some exciting hikes remaining for the taking. Instead, we moved off and headed to Page, Arizona where we suffered our way through two weeks of sheer delight. While we've often expressed our bias for the state of Utah, Page and Boulder City, two towns surrounding Lakes Powell (Arizona) and Mead (Nevada) respectively, send shivers down the spine just thinking of them.
