Take a look at a few pictures of many; it was so difficult to choose. Hopefully, when we do the full blog, a set of pictures and narrative might capture what ranks as another incredible experience. This is a 'Quick Five' summary to share the overwhelming beauty of the Pirin Mountains and surround. It's the second highest peak in Bulgaria, only 11 meters lower than the winner, Musala and third highest in the Balkans. In our experiences, we've never seen such an attractive peak. The closest may have been Pyramid Peak near Lake Tahoe, California. Part of the karst and granite massif. The peak is somewhere behind and above that displayed. It was a staggering sight before, during and after the climb. On a somewhat easier section, Jen makes her way up the mostly rock-scrambling trail. Another superb hike, in an incredible environment as we again reached in excess of 3,300 feet of elevation gain.
