LAZAROW WORLD HIKE-ABOUT

Chamonix, France. Alpage De Loriaz, a walk on the wild side.

'LAZAROW WORLD HIKE-ABOUT: WHAT IN THE WORLD IS HIKE-ABOUT?'

Hike-about is an adventure that commenced June 2010. After storing our household movables, ridding ourselves of a house but retaining our 'home' together, we set off with the purpose of hiking in different parts of the world, not forgetting the home country, the USA.

Our primary focus is hiking to mountain peaks but any challenging hike will do just fine. Extended stays enable us to enjoy and experience living in various places amongst differing cultures. Hike-about has evolved into a way of life. It's also a process of discovery, both the world and ourselves.

We work and live 'on the road' but return to the city in which our grandchildren reside, every three, or slightly less, months. This provides us the wonderful opportunity to be with them as well as a child or two, even three and of course, friends.

By the end of 2025, the blog contained over 1,800 hikes (far less than actually undertaken), each a set of pictures with stories and anecdotes from the trails. An index to the right allows the viewer to identify earlier experiences.

Finally, we are often asked about the journey's end.
O
ur reply, as accurate as we can state, is: "When we are either forced to cease through health issues or the enjoyment level no longer reaches our aspirations, we will hang up the boots."

"A Life Experience As No Other: Dare to Seize the Day Together", published by Fulton Books, depicts our life on the road and mountains until the beginning of 2017. It has developed 'exponentially' since then.

71.23 through 71.29: Portugal, Geres: Our last published blog and a farewell to a remarkable place: A Magical Land.

From across the lake, the water pipe (funicular) does not look that daunting. Perhaps one had to be there.
"Do you ever get that sinking feeling?" Not in Portugal but many countries, I would think.
I have been accused of being partial to reflections which I am very proud to admit...the more the merrier in a manner of speaking.
A favorite scene, a view of Lake Canicada.
A calm scene to gain perspective of the sky and water and lake in a single position as well as where we figure in the miracles, if at all.
Let's fly in low to gain another perspective.
Sometimes it's hard to see the wood for the trees, other times, reality from reflections.
A perspective of Geres from across the main road.
A little misjudgment of the steepness and slippery slope...often, there's not another chance.
We arrive at a road while on a trip through the jungle...each day is a mystery. Jen, a little baffled.
Another view of Lake Canicada, smooth, calm and just lovely.
If a person is going to 'take five', surely this is a superior choice...seems like Jen understands.
After relaxation, back to the grind.
Not much to add as nature has perfected the art of 'deception' or, perhaps, which way is up?
While he looks a little lost although what's the difference between a little and a lot,'lost'?
"Aha! His senses picked up a body coming through the rye."
The lake, Canicada, may be observed from countless positions. This spot is while climbing PR-6.
A walk along PR-5, a wonderful lake, particularly when calm and showing off reflections, unlike now.
Cheers,

A horse of a different color feeds as we observe.
The truth revealed. Jenni may wish you to believe that she spends her days hiking, but here's another perspective.
